Tributes are flooding in for Jackie Collins, who has died of breast cancer at the age of 77.

The best-selling author had apparently been diagnosed with the illness six and a half years ago, but only told close family members.

Jackie's death was announced by her actress sister Joan earlier today.

'She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over 4 decades,' said the former Dynasty star.

'She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force.

'She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.'

Meanwhile Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock, who once starred in a TV mini-series Lucky Chances, which was based on two of Jackie's novels, said that heaven should 'watch out'.

'That smart, talented, and gorgeous woman paved the road for so many of us so that we could experience a much smoother journey … with or without heels,' she said in a statement to People magazine.

Stars like Oprah Wnfrey, Gary Barlow and Kris Jenner have also taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Jackie.

Jackie sold more than 500 million novels during a career which spanned four decades.

Her hugely popular books focused on the glamour and scandal of Hollywood and were known for their over the top plot lines.
