OPINION: Nigerians Don’t Need Government, They Can Do Everything On Their Own

Editor's note:  Emeka Nwankwo, Naij.com guest author, states that  we Nigerians have developed an indifferent attitude towards the government activities, preferring to do for ourselves what the government has refused to do. As espoused in the article, this is not the Nigerians' fault, as it is the primary duty of the government and its agencies to provide the necessities to the citizenry. The article also contains different situation where the Nigerian people are on their own. "OYO culture" in Nigeria   Have you, like me, ever wondered if pledges in Nigeria resemble those things we learned and recited in primary school in order to avoid the teacher's wrath – usually in the form of a cane? A string of words that we recited without a tinge of passion and forgot upon leaving secondary school. When will Nigeria make a pledge to defend its citizens? "To love is to give and to receive," said Chimamanda Adiche, a popular Nigerian author. Is our love to ...

Sensational Open Letter: APC Senior Writes To President Buhari, Defends Saraki

The letter as of September 19 titled "Urgent Need to End This Impunity against Saraki" was published by Post Nigeria. It contains a call to the president to intervene before the political crisis has started within the party. A second, exhausted group of around 40 people reached the island in a small boat following a traumatic journey from Turkey, having paddled through the night with their hands across ten kilometres of ocean after their engine failed. 'When we were on the sea I didn't have any hope. I said: "I am dead right now, nobody can help me",' Mohammed Reza, 18, said after being pulled ashore from the boat by foreign volunteers. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have braved the short but precarious crossing from Turkey to Greece's eastern islands this year, mainly in flimsy and overcrowded inflatable boats. The 10 phrases you should never put on your CV

Image
(Picture: Getty/METRO/mylo) Spelling and grammatical errors are a quick way to have your CV torn up and thrown in the bin. But now it's been proven employers loath certain phrases like 'team player' and 'enthusiastic'. A study by New College of the Humanities also found bosses don't like emojis on CVs – which is pretty obviously really, I mean, who does that!? What NOT to say on your CV I'm a hard worker I work well under pressure I can work independently I'm a team player I am a problem solver Good communicator I'm proactive I am a good listener I'm enthusiastic Excellent written communication skills But if you're thinking about playing it casual – don't. Signing off an email with 'cheers' will enrage more than half of recruiters. According to expert Jane Heifetz, your CV is all about the 20-30 word introductory summary. Here's her own example: 'Pharmaceutical marketing e...

The gorilla being comforted (Picture: Phil Moore/Getty Images) When you need a hug, you need a hug. And this heartbreaking picture shows that's as true for primates as it is for the rest of us. It shows a park ranger comforting a mountain gorilla whose mother had been killed by poachers. Ranger Patrick Karabaranga showed compassion for the poor animal and puts his arm around it. It was taken in the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where deforestation has resulted in severe habitat loss for animals. Screamed by Metronews Duh!
